The gentleman who shut down the auction was the President of Accelerated Marketing Partners, Jon Gollinger. They had a sophisticated software system that showed them the exact moment when the buyers were unwilling to pay a price high enough to satisfy the seller's needs. AMP has run several other auctions in this exact manner in the past several months. Here are the actual auction results: http://www.granthammond.com/2009/condos/terrazz...

Accelerated Marketing Partners really ran an excellent condo auction. I am part of an auction company in Nashville and even I have to admit that AMP knows how to run a first class auction. I spoke to one of the United Country Auctioneers after the auction and he admitted to me that they had multiple meetings and scripts given to them of what they could and could not do. 25 downtown condos sold in 30 days is almost a 2009 monthly record for total number of downtown condos sold in 2009. Just need Icon to add 7 more and we're at the 2009 monthly record. Interesting way to end the year, isn't it?

I was there also. Kind of shocked I had to be Pre Registered to sit in the live venue, but the offsite viewing was well attended by high profile realtors & developers. We were confused a bit when the gentleman shut David Hudgins, Auctioneer down after 21 units had "sold" and said anyone with a bidding number could negotiate upward. A gentleman afterward who was inside said the developer/bank would work up approximately 50k up from aucton price. After being involved in the Nashville Real Estate Auction market for over 20 years with Clive Anderson Company(we successfully sold Elliston & Park Circle Condos in Mid 90's) I must say the event was positive for many buyers and hopefully charged some life in a somewhat staginant High Rise Condominium Market. Make those elevator & loading dock appointments soon to move in.
Tommy Anderson, 3rd Generation Broker/Realtor/Auctioneer
Prudential Woodmont Realty Auctions
5107 Maryland Way
Brentwood, Tn. 37027
www.CliveAnderson.com
www.WoodmontRealty.com

Grant, what can I say? You nailed the auction results. I was there viewing the action and really was shocked on the participation and aggressive bidding. I consider this a win for the bank, and the Nashville market. I do give credit for the marketing people of the Terrazzo. They got the people there along with 25-30 observing in a different room. If West End is as successful, the Nashville market will really set up nicely going into next spring.
