Do you actually look at the data? Drop by bloomberg's site and check out the currency data. I imagine we have similiar politics, but quite frankly as an investor I get frustrated when people mix politics and economics. Science and poltics should never get twisted up.

I would say that job and salary growth are two of the most important factors and without each we’ll see a very flat marketplace as a whole until sustained growth is achieved. On a separate note, optimism is certainly up amongst the general public and that too can also make a market without the numbers being in line, but that alone cannot lead to maintainable growth.

Nice site, Grant. Are you being unduly pessimistic? The economy IS improving. Here in Boston, at least, there's a lot of pent-up demand. I think people are waiting to see a little more improvement in the jobs numbers. The post-tax-credit world may not be as bleak as you paint it. But then, I'm the eternal optimist.

Good to see someone else has enough common sense to realize that artificially manipulating key numbers does not a recover make. I hope you'll drop by and read some of my posts about why the economy can not actually recover because the dollar is still sliding and what we as individuals can do about it.
