Gallatin

Home to country music superstar Reba McEntire, Gallatin sits alongside a scenic tributary of the Cumberland River. Although located 25 miles northwest of Nashville, this incorporated city enjoys regular bus service both ways. Established in 1802, Gallatin’s historic roots run deep, as evidenced by the city center’s open square design and the popularity of the Sumner County Museum. During the Civil War, it was the site of numerous skirmishes, as both sides struggled to gain control of the local waterways. In more recent times, the city has undergone a healthy amount of development, and enjoys a strong and vibrant economy. Both Gap Inc. and RR Donnelly have major facilities in Gallatin, which is also home to the Volunteer State Community College. There are quite a number of luxury lake homes in and around Gallatin that start as low as $2,000/mo.
